Hi All. I have just spoken to HMRC about the 80% wages retention scheme for Covid19. They have advised they don’t know how this will work either at the moment. I will let you all know ASAP when I know what is going on. Not to helpful I know, but to save you keep ringing me.

A note on Vat payments falling due. If you have payments due to Hmrc between 20 March and 30th June. You have the option to defer until 31st March 2021.

There will be no interest on the deferral, and you don’t need to apply, it is automatic. If you pay by DD and want to defer. Hmrc are advising you cancel your DD with the bank. You can still choose to pay now. We still need to file the returns however

For the self employed, that is those of you operating outside of a Ltd Company. The only announcements so far are that you can claim Employment Support Allowance and Universal Credit. There will hopefully be more help announced shortly.

Just an update on this. Still no news from Hmrc on when and how this will all work. Rumours are 4 weeks before first credits hit your bank accounts. So you may need to fund your workers for that long then get a rebate.
