I've just signed Butterfly Conservation 🦋 open letter to the Govt calling on them to declare a #NatureEmergency– 80% of our butterflies have declined since 1970 , we need to work hard and fast tackling the root problems if we are to reverse these declines .

Where are all the butterflies? Years of habitat destruction, climate breakdown and pesticide use have taken their toll. If we're to restore nature and save our butterflies and moths we must act now. Sign our letter to Steve Reed MP 👉 butterfly-conservation.org/emergency #ButterflyEmergency

Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) Red Admiral butterflies are mostly migrants, but some do hibernate here. You may be lucky and see one flying on a warm day throughout the autumn and winter time. 📸 Tamas Nestor
