For 12 years, the Sustainability Team has worked with our nonprofit members in #BalboaPark to raise the bar on #sustainable practices. Starting tomorrow, we’ll count down w/ posts each week that celebrate accomplishments of the program, & highlight the program's amazing partners!

#SustainableSuccess: Over the past 12 years, so many energy-saving projects have been completed in #BalboaPark that we have saved more than 9.4 Megawatt-Hours of energy. 💫 That’s enough to power over 2000 average #SanDiego homes, for a whole year! #BalboaParkSustainability

Partners in #Sustainability: A huge thank you to the City of San Diego for their role in our 12 yr effort to improve efficiency in the city-owned buildings across #BalboaPark 🤝✨ By working together we were able to make significant progress towards #SanDiego’s #ClimateActionPlan!

#SustainableSuccess: The Sustainability Team established an Excess Capacity Program in Balboa Park. This effort provided a simple process for nonprofits to offer unneeded items to other organizations. Since 2014 this program has diverted over 10k items from entering the landfill!

Partners in Sustainability: Excited to share a collab between the #BPSustainabilityProgram, Verdani Partners & The Good Traveler Carbon Offset Stickers program. By investing in the #Sustainability Program, Verdani will help offset a total of 30.56 MTCO2e greenhouse gas emissions!

Partners in Sustainability: Over the course of the #Sustainability Program, water retrofits in partnership with SDG&E & SD County Water Authority were performed in Balboa Park to save over 3.3m gallons of water - that’s more than 1 yrs worth of water for 111 SD county homes! ⛲✨

Partners in Sustainability: The SD Green Building Council has been an important partner for the #SustainabilityProgram. Through their collaboration, our program has achieved 10 LEED building certifications and 5 LEED building recertifications! Learn more ow.ly/6Di650CPLu1

Sustainable Success: One of the most remarkable accomplishments of the Sustainability team was the #LEED certification of 10 buildings in Balboa Park Not an easy feat, especially considering the age of several structures, such as the Museum of Us building which is +100 YRS OLD!✨
