Being comfortable in emergency situations is a must for Firefighters. At AFM we train in many different areas to be proficient with our gear& to be able to get through tough spots as a Crew in order to do the job. Here Engine 171 A trains on Mayday Drills.

AFM assisted Phoenix Fire units at a pallet fire in Phoenix last night. Over 100 firefighters were on scene.

Engine/Squad 173 training on fireground awareness, hoseline management, and air conservation last Shift. Any area inside or out at the Station is used to simulate a search & rescue, and Fire attack with the Crew.

In some cases there is more than one patient on an EMS Call. Engine 174 went above and beyond yesterday when checking on a Customer with minor issues. After making sure the patient was ok, the Crew made sure to give some extra attention to the new litter of Puppies as well!

AFM units were called out to a trench rescue call in Goodyear. A man had tripped and fallen into the 20 foot trench, injuring his back.

Several AFM Crews recently took part in Brush Truck and Water Tender training. Wildland Fire Season is already here and brush fires in Avondale are a regular occurrence. Being able to set up and operate Brush171 and WaterTender171 in a drafting/water buoy scenario is important

AFM Crews were working another Brush Fire near the river bottom on B-Shift. Resources, water supplies, and good access are always issues that Firefighters face with these rugged, offroad areas.

AFM Firefighters paid their respects to Sun City Firefighter Shane Godbehere at his funeral services today. Our hearts go out to his Family, Friends, and Sun City Fire and Medical. Rest in peace Brother. #HonorandRespect #AFM #brotherhood

Pipeline Fire Update Our Wildland crew and Type3 Brush Truck were released and they have gone through the demobilization process. Everyone arrived home safely yesterday afternoon. Thank you for all your support of the team! Latest fire information link: inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/8152/

On Tuesday, Tutor Time students visited the crew at Station 175. Captain Tussing and the crew showed off our newest station and the “jaws of life.” It was Firefighter R. Tramel’s first station tour with AFM, and he’s a natural!
