Walking around American cities with a camera and talking to yourself should be pretty normal right? Made sure to Vlog through Day 1 in Philadelphia: youtu.be/NAkgvGJJVVo #WatchNow

Unpopular opinion: I understand and relate to the outrage over the required documentation for a Schengen Visa. But I also know/met Indians who have illegally immigrated & settled in so many of these countries. They also (mostly) came to Europe on a tourist visa.

Of late, countries like Serbia have cancelled visa free entry for Indians. This is exactly why your behavior outside your country makes a difference. You represent India when you travel abroad. And all you good & even more, your bad behavior becomes a stereotype for the rest.

The paperwork is a pain, to the point that it makes you feel like a criminal. There's no sure shot way to get a visa. But that's also the disadvantage when your passport lacks power, when it's not considered safe from forgery & your countrymen haven't exactly set the best eg.

That said, it's a messy business given all Schengen members don't have a standard requirement for their applications. The paper wastage is criminal & pointless. If they go fully digital with the #SchengenVisa process from the end of 2023, it could truly be a game changer.

Most importantly, it's still a game of luck when it comes to visa approvals. Been lucky each time, but also know of people who got rejected with vague reasons. Precision in paper work matters, for almost everything within the EU. #SchengenVisa

Your cover letter, travel history, account balance, insurance, itinerary, bookings, all need to be cohesive & clear. I've dealt with cases where people have pasted a random tour company itinerary, company balance & irrelevant details. With all things EU, PAPER WORK IS EVERYTHING

Most importantly, you need to show you have reasons to return to your home country. A combination of work, studies, family, property. Just one is never enough, given that increasing number of people want to move out for better work opportunities. ESTABLISH WHY YOU WANT TO RETURN.

- Westerners get sabbatical as & when they want. - Most of them make enough money to travel for months/years at a stretch - For most companies in the west, 1 year gap without a career/job is fine. - Most of them don’t have to worry about social security & unemployment benefits.
