#FolkloreSunday The GATIPEDRO (created by Galician writer Álvaro Cunqueiro) is a white cat with a huge tongue and a horn on his forehead. At night, he sneaks into the children's rooms and pours water through the horn, so that the child ends up... wetting his bed!

#MythologyMonday In Pedride (#Galicia) there is a stone cross under which an unbaptized child was buried. Since then, a huge black dog that nobody knows usually appears next to the cross (in Galician lore, the souls of the deceased usually appear in the form of black dogs).

Gold lunula with corresponding solar disks from Cabeceiras de Basto, northern Portugal, ca. 2000 BC. A unique testimony to Gallaico-Irish connections in the Early Bronze Age — and perhaps to the materiality of the Milesian legend.

#MythologyMonday A detail from the mappa mundi of Burgo de Osma Beatus (11th century), on which the Insula Magna Solistitionis can be seen, facing the Galician shores. This is the fabulous island to which the monk Trezenzonio sailed, and where he stayed for 7️⃣ years.

ROSA: –¡Cala, trangalleiro, cala!»

#TorcTuesday The torc from Orbellido (#Galicia). Maybe 1st century AD. A fine sample of Iron Age goldsmithing in former #Gallaecia.

Apertas!
