Tantallon: this is unofficial but speaking to multiple informed sources it is believed there are well in excess of 50 homes destroyed.

The wildfire situation in Nova Scotia is incredibly serious – and we stand ready to provide any federal support and assistance needed. We’re keeping everyone affected in our thoughts, and we’re thanking those who are working hard to keep people safe.

We will provide $500 to every household required to evacuate because of recent fires in Halifax Regional Municipality and Shelburne County. The funding will be administered through the Canadian Red Cross. #novascotia

This has been a devastating couple of days in our community, most of all for those who have lost their homes and possessions. In the coming days we will all come together to support them.

Last night, we approved the Request for Federal Assistance from the Government of Nova Scotia for support with wildfire response efforts in the province, including Canadian Armed Forces personnel and resources.
