I love inspiring students through the visual arts and providing opportunities for students to make mistakes. Our Cockrell Elementary School were excited to see these new lesson examples and are eager to learn new techniques.

Our 3rd grade Cockrell Elementary School have been creating flowers inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and Yayoi Kusama. Georgia lived to be 98 and Kusama is 98 years old! Ss loved learning about these women and their art. The O’Keeffe/Kusama mashup led to the creation of these amazing pieces.
Our 5th grade Cockrell Elementary School loved making cake sculptures. Their yelp review for this lesson was 5/5!!

For Texas Big Art Day, our Cockrell Elementary School students created a school-wide mural inspired by two contemporary artists: Mr. Doodle’s playful line universes and Mr. graffiti meets kawaii, manga, and anime. The result—thousands of drawings joined into one collaborative artwork.
It’s only our third day in art and our second grade Cockrell Elementary School are creating realistic flowers using the contour drawing technique.
