If IT were held accountable for the problems they created with poor configuration management, the security landscape would be a lot different. As it stands today, IT is poorly incentivized to devote resources to secure architecture, but 100% incentivized to just make it work 1/2

This isn't an attack on IT or an "us vs them" argument. Rather, it's a commentary on the reversal of the incentives in IT and infosec and a statement that we need to change this. Incentives drive KPIs. That's just the reality. 2/2

I'll add one more thought: if I did IT with the current incentive status quo, I would also "just make it work" unless security were stated as a first class metric AND was readily measurable. A KPI you can't measure is no KPI at all. 3/3
