I don't get the service industry anymore. 20 years ago every waiter/waitress, barista, bartender, etc acted half flirtatious or like you were their best friend. Tips were appreciated. Now everyone acts bothered, mumbles, never makes eye contact, and expects a 40% tip.

I grew up in the midwest. People were pretty solid. Now I live in the south, and people seem nice but literally never do what they say. Contractors, businesses, neighbors, anything. No call no show is a way of life. Is this a southern thing or are people just shittier now?

Just realized how different the 80s-90s were. Every gas station and store had signs saying 'no shoes, no shirt, no service' because of how common it was for dudes to just go shopping in nothing but shorts. You literally never see that today. Nor the signs. What happened?
