I just want to🚩that this issue of doctors not working directly for hospitals — in 🇨🇦, they're typically independent contractors who have privileges to work in hospitals but who bill the government directly for services — has now come up THREE times in recent stories I've done:

Then it came up in this piece about Dr. Teresa Kieser who filed a human-rights case against Alberta Health Services, alleging years of pay inequity, pervasive sexism and gender-based discrimination. In its defence, AHS argued she's not an employee. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

That same issue is at play in today's story. Sunnybrook hospital has said Dr. Benedict Glover — who was accused of sexual misconduct by a medical resident (he denies it and has sued her for defamation) — is not an employee. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

I've finally returned from an incredible 2 months in Antarctica, collecting meteorites with the legendary #ANSMET team! ☄️ We collected a whopping 207 samples for science! Beyond grateful for the experience ❤️ & can't wait to see the results of the meteorite classifications.

The shortage gets worse the further North you go… There is no #healthequity for #NorthernOntario.

EKGs are snapshots in time and a normal triage or EMS EKG shouldn’t be used as a definitive rule out if ACS is still on the differential. Premature closure kills. Stay curious.
