Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Deputy Chief Economist Fergus Cumming & I heard about Sri Lanka’s plans for economic growth & discussed opportunities to strengthen our economic partnership further.

We remember all those who died and disappeared during the conflict in Sri Lanka – and stand with the families who continue their search for truth and justice. We will continue to support efforts to bring about a lasting reconciliation.

Last week, I visited the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and met with Chief Prelate Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera. I was honoured to receive a tour of the temple and learn of its historical and cultural significance, and the recent Vesak celebrations.
