My sister in law lost her sister to suicide a few days ago. I keep crying for her because I know there’s nothing to replace the pain she has of losing her sister. Please, send up some prayers for her and her family.

August of 2008, I finally gained guardianship of the kids. I moved from Oglala back to Denver. Just realized this anniversary. 16 years officially being their parent. 20 years since I began taking care of them after ma passed away. Now we’ve moved from Denver back to Oglala.

There are so many milestones that we’ve achieved. Many failures, I feel mostly on my part. I had to learn to be a parent while fighting generational and family trauma. Still fighting, but now with support. I’m so proud of how my sons have grown. How they’re still growing.

The seasons are changing. The kittens are energetic and need more attention. We had to light our first fire last night and Raphael got it so hot inside that we had to open a window. It was around 3am before we dared close it lol. It’s been more peaceful since it’s just been us.
