Last years trial in Pingelly really highlighted the importance of nitrogen application, especially as high rainfall canola has big potential when well fed! No Nitrogen = 2.4 t/ha 75 kg/ha N = 3.1 t/ha 105 kg/ha N = 3.6 t/ha 225 kg/ha N = 4.3t/ha

Paraquat is an essential tool to control glyphosate resistant ryegrass. There are no other reliable options to control prior to sowing crops. The addition of Group 14 (G) herbicides is rarely useful to control glyphosate resistant plants.WeedSmart Syngenta ANZ

Liebe Group’s Very Early Sown Canola trial (sown 18 Mar, Pithara) compares 2cm vs 5cm depths into moisture post-50mm rain. Early heat stress reduced plant counts, but 20mm rain on 17 Apr saw a second germination. No establishment differences between depths observed to date.

Round Three. In our region, the rule-of-thumb for when to plant grain crops is "after ANZAC Day". The operation of planting completely erases anything in the paddock. So I figured, if it will be visible until at least ANZAC Day, let's combine the two? To the greatest place.
