A clip of Times Radio Mariella Frostrup, and their interview with Shortlisted Wolfson History Prize, Prof Hakim Adi
In this clip, Prof Hakim Adi dismantles University of Chichester's lie that only one student graduated from Chichester History of Africa & African Diaspora!
The full interview can be found here: historymatters.online/save-mres-camp…
Has any university ever appeared more ridiculous than University of Chichester (University of Chichester), who sack the eminent scholar, Hakim Adi (@hakimadi1), who is then immediately shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize, one of the most prestigious awards worldwide?
Solidarity with Professor Hakim Adi Hakim Adi, an outstanding historian who fully deserves his Wolfson Prize nomination. Full support to Save the MRes Campaign, fighting to save Chichester History of Africa & African Diaspora. Shame on University of Chichester for their actions theguardian.com/books/2023/sep…
Liv Uni History Humanities & Social Sciences @ Uni of Liverpool @LivUni should be hosting Hakim Adi course, which is run entirely online. This is especially important in a city like Liverpool which has one of Europe’s oldest Black communities, and was responsible for the trafficking of at least 1.4 million enslaved people.
This decision is so appalling & is a direct attack on Black histories in this country. It’s unbelievable that other unis, esp Liv Uni History Humanities & Social Sciences @ Uni of Liverpool have stood by in silence & let this happen. This MRes has produced 7 PhD students since 2018 & has c. 30 students currently 1/🧵
Chichester History of Africa & African Diaspora I am so disappointed with the university with this I need I chose to complete my degree at Chichester because of the diversity in the history department I don’t understand why they are making these decisions which they will come to regret
