If people get heavily influenced by movies and tv series, the problem lies in critical thinking skills, not the media.

Peter Higgs believed he would be regarded as “unproductive" in today’s academia. He simply wouldn’t be able to “survive” in science. On his way to Stockholm to receive a Nobel Prize in 2013, he said the following in an interview:

A well-formulated lie appears as truth, and can even be used to make a moral statement. It is up to us to investigate from every angle, and then conclude.

As a society, we are losing the ability to treat everyone with respect regardless of their opinions or behavior. Respect is not the same as compliance or agreement, even though they are typically considered synonymous. Do not conflate them.

This is rich - one of the primary reasons scientists don't have a lot of time to think is that @nature and its ilk have promoted a culture where the primary goal of science is to produce bloated Nature papers that require lots of time and money, but little thought, to produce.
