Randall Kanna Franson honestly i think it's a symptom of a team/leadership that lacks effective communication. remote + async "standups" are easy to achieve and aren't nearly as stressful or as much of a time suck. so if a team is insisting on in-person, synchronous standup...they've got some issues.

Often managers invent the deadlines without asking how long things will take. And that then totally screws up the most efficient order to complete tasks. Burn out follows.
