Over the last couple of weeks Year 11 and 13 Geography students have been out on local fieldwork trips to Tadcaster and Drax. They investigated factors which increase the likelihood of flooding in the River Wharfe drainage basin and were given a tour around Drax Power Station.

Last week we had some mini results mornings for PPE mock exams – students came along to pick up their results and enjoy some breakfast in the common room. Not long now until the real thing – keep working hard and we look forward to celebrating with you when it comes!

Our Football Academy have been on really good form recently – well done team, keep working hard!

Our Football Academy had a great time on their recent trip. We went to a Celtic vs Hearts game, played against a local team, had two sessions with the Celtic coaches on their academy facilities and then did mini golf, footgolf and bowling all in one night!

Last night we welcomed university and apprenticeship providers into college to speak to parents and students about the range of Post 18 careers opportunities available to them. Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope it helps inform the exciting choices which lie ahead!

On Wednesday our Year 12 geographers were out and about in the sunshine completing coastal fieldwork. They assessed the impact of erosion on sediment along the Holderness Coast and surveyed the views of people in Hornsea about the engineering work taking place there.

Last week Year 12 visited the UCAS fair at Leeds Beckett. They spoke to reps from unis, colleges, employers and apprenticeship providers about the many pathways available. A great chance to get support – and as a bonus, they got a photo with Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford!
