Dragon Boat Racing is coming back to Abingdon - Saturday the 28th May. The #rotaryclub of Abingdon Vesper is the charity partner of the the event being organised by @DragonBoatEvents in association with @CorporateSports and Events To enter a team, see their websites.

Abingdon Vesper members Paul & Maya Smeulders returned from Uganda where they monitored projects including environmently friendly wood burning stoves using 70% less wood. 72 now built in Schools providing meals for 40,000 pupils. Stoves in private homes now number over 2,000.

The #abingdon #Rotary stall on Rye Farm Meadow for the #jubilee celebrations raised nearly £100, selling home made bracelets. This will go towards making mud stoves for communities in #MUBENDE #Uganda. These #environmentallyfriendly stoves save wood, time, & could help save lives

A tad early, but it has been a topsy turvy 2 years for #Rotary. President Astrid Nielsen-Schuurmans who has helped hold the club together for 2 years, hands over the 'chain of office' to incoming President - Sulwen Vaughan, at our meeting at The Cosener's House last Tuesday

Last Tuesday for a social event, a group of us went to Pitt Rivers Museum to see #ffttheatre fo their premier performance of @jekyllandhyde. A setting and adation of the story that really worked well for the period. A very enjoyable evening.

There are no Christmas lunches where members normally help out with on Christmas Day this year, instead we donated a sum of money to Abingdon, Oxfordshire Churches. They are distributing food hampers to the lonely and needy families in the area
