Very nice analysis by neurosurgeon Dr. Jon Slotkin of how Waymo's autonomous vehicles have much better safety properties than human drivers, and what would happen if everyone in the U.S. drove as safely as a Waymo. "The national math: If every US vehicle performed like Waymo, we’d

Did you know that when they say stuff like "The A18 uses TSMC's 3nm process" or "announced the 2nm node" The 3nm, 2nm actually doesn't mean anything?! It's just like a version number. They make it up. Literally nothing measures 2nm or 3nm. I certainly didn't know.

Gemini 3 Pro's autonomous reasoning is huge as compared to Gemini 2.5 Pro. Gemini 3 Pro finished Pokémon Crystal and beat Red while Gemini 2.5 Pro stalled at 4 badges. Gemini 3 Pro also did it with ~50% fewer turns and far fewer tokens. The big deal is that it behaved like a

When I was 20, all I wanted was to live in an apartment above a bookstore on a block like this. What I did not then understand was that this block typology (mixed use, small-scale multifamily) was a stunning triumph of pre-war urbanism. Only later did I realize how thoroughly

If I was a betting man I'd say Google puts this as a core part of the Aluminum OS. Next gen OS with deep native AI integrations, works across the phones, watches, desktops, tablets, and whatever is the next hardware form factor. Alphabet wins big with this

Many are talking about Miyares and Sears not showing up, but that pales in comparison to the most glaring absence of the day…the Hokiebird from the mascots parade group 🧐🦃

Movie pitch: 6 state legislators and a few staff from opposite parties were working late and end up getting snowed into the state capitol building together. Hijinks and hilarity ensue

What's wild is Nuuk, Greenland (pop. 19.6k) has 16 buses in its transit system and has higher ridership than Wichita, Kansas's bus system (pop. 472k). Yet this country is defunding transit and wants to spend $700B on Greenland.

"In other words, stealing a laptop could get you more prison time than killing a pedestrian and fleeing the scene." Great story from Samuel B. Parker on why no-one who struck one of the 13 pedestrians killed last year has been prosecuted. richmond.com/news/local/gov…
