on this year's international women's day, we should all take the time to remember the names of these schoolgirls who were just trying to live their lives.

Every year we get the hashtags, the panel discussions, the corporate posts, the inspirational quotes about “empowered women,”. Everyone suddenly remembers women exist for 24 hours. And then the day passes… and the material conditions remain exactly the same, or worse.

Beyond all the buzzwords and platitudes today, I hope we all take some time out today to genuinely inquire and listen to the women in our lives about their experiences. Without defensiveness, without internalizing and without deflection.
