In the biography in one of the works of the major Maliki faqih, ibn al-Qadi al-Miknassi (d.1025 hijri), it's mentioned that he always said that a qadi must be pious and “knowledge alone isn't enough, because sometimes scholars may exploit their knowledge to reach their own goals”
