On both the mens and women’s side I’ve watched a lot of good people put in work during lean times for Canada Basketball. Dorm rooms with two 7footers, playing in front of a few hundred people, lack of coverage, no commitment. But they all knew top3 in the world was possible… 1/3

Many of those people aren’t involved in the program anymore, some are no longer in the sport at all. I’m one of the lucky ones that has seen the ups and downs through every different lens and can attest to the fact that the build to this medal came on the shoulders of those 2/3

who carried the water during a transition that lasted longer than most expected. There is no turning back and my hope is the tired title of “golden age of Canada Basketball” is never used again. The bar has been raised and the excuses are gone but the work never stops 💪🇨🇦 🏀 ❤️

Throughout my 15yrs covering and working with Canada Basketball I consistently heard that “a strong domestic league was a necessity for a strong national program.” The proof is now right in front of us 💪 🇨🇦 🏀 ❤️

ML was an incredible person with a positive soul that brought everyone up. She helped so many within this sport and her community, including myself when I needed it the most. Wishing peace and solace for her family and friends. Her spirit will carry on through all she touched 🙏
