Wrote some really clever code today that uses a couple fancy recursions & multiple abstractions so I'm not copy-pasting the same several lines of code to multiple places. So clever that if I got paged at 2am it would make zero sense to me. Shook myself out if it and deleted it

So we were testing out ONCE #1 on a big AWS instance and hitting 30,000 concurrent users on our metrics. Pretty cool to see that using sqlite! Can't wait to see what we can do with our new gen 5 SSD boxes. Sqlite can go very far these days.

Wow man, how have we come to this point that frontend developers cannot imagine a website can just be.... an HTML file that imports Bootstrap from CDN. How much have we failed the new crop of web devs that their default world is webpacked jsx?

Manually tagging notes and projects is sooooo 2023 💅🏼 Now you can autofill select/multi-select properties. Autofill assigns existing tags based on page content, or generates new ones!

Most good engineers I worked with had a common trait - they just happen to know a lot of random stuff, facts, and practices at surface level ⚡ The conversations with them were always fun and insightful as they kept telling and sharing interesting nuggets. Although they were not

Till 2020 Figma was running on a single Postgres instance on the largest AWS machine possible Folks - you really really really don’t need to go “distributed database” upto a very long way. Figma was huge in 2020 too

So apparently if someone knows / guesses the name of your S3 bucket - even if it's private (!) - they can just bankrupt you by sending infinite PUT requests and there is nothing you can do about it. > requests get rejected > but AWS still counts it as a write operation against

What is it with young developers struggling with basic database design? Is it MongoDB that ruined y’all? Am I an uncle now? Was it COVID?

"Vibe" coding is fun until it isn't. People are slowly hit with the reality of deploying slop to production. I’m pro AI and pro any tool IF you actually know how to use it. If you blindly use a tool, you’ll have to deal with the consequences. No tool is a replacement/shortcut
