During Literacy today we continued our chapter on working on 'inference' meaning the process of arriving at a certain conclusion using reasoning or evidence. Making inferences is a valuable skill for children to learn, as it will help them to pick apart texts.

Today we were building rectangles and measuring the side lengths to help us understand and remember 'Perimeter' in maths. This was lots of fun as we were collaborating, showing creativity and communicating with our peers. The finished artistic results were amazing!

Yesterday we enjoyed a very exciting visit to West Calder High School science department! Thank you to Mrs McGinlay and the technicians for setting this up. We had the best time.

Today we were finding out all about the Northern Lights. The Aurora borealis could be seen in Scotland last weekend and we decided we would create our own art work of these beautiful dancing ribbons of light that captivated us so much. We used oil pastels and card.

This boy got a medal for running in a fun run at the weekend and wanted to share it with the class. Thank you for sharing your news with us, we are so proud of you 🏃‍♂️👟😁⭐️

This week we have been enjoying Peer Mediation training with our Longridge friends. We have learned lots of new skills including practicing our communication and creativity. We can't wait to put these skills in to practice.

p1-7 worked together to choose our new whole school IDL focus. We looked at an overview of three potential topics and then, in groups, we discussed the pros and cons of each one before having an anonymous vote and choosing Ancient Egyptian as our new topic 😁

P1/2 have been working together to estimate the price of various items 🤑

Feeding back to the class our Participatory Budget proposals for this term. Some fantastic ideas on updating our school playground and environment.

This morning we are using the Lundy model of participation to understand and make decisions on the matters which affect us most. We talked about it first then used random groupings in the process, and we all chose different ways of recording our views in our room.

After a busy but amazing few days, we are on our way home! Leaving with amazing memories and lots of washing 🙈🏕️

Longridge and Woodmuir Primary have had a lovely few days away together at camp! We finished it off in the best way with a campfire and toasting marshmallows 🍡🔥

This afternoons activities were abseiling and axe throwing. Miss Megahy was robbed of the Axe Throwing championships title in the final round. 🪓🧗‍♀️😁
