An interesting #DoctorWho VHS curio landed on my doorstep today having winged its way from the USofA 🇺🇸 This 1989 release pre-dates the UK release by 2 years and features the house style of the 80s UK releases. I’ll keep it sealed so I won’t get to see it in its omnibus glory 🤪

#DoctorWho PDA Zeta Major isn’t a bad book but it’s sprawling and flabby. Tonally reminiscent of Terminus, it successfully captures the uneasy atmosphere of Planet of Evil. Messingham creates an interesting world but populates it with too many incidental characters. Verdict:

The first Troughton VHS of my #DoctorWho marathon tonight is also the first Troughton serial I ever saw. It’s also one of my all time favourite stories. Never owned the official tape as it was recorded for me off the BSB Doctor Who weekend in September 1990. Adored, treasured!

Back to school today, and having endured my cretinous colleagues once again, I’m treating myself to #DoctorWho Dragonfire on VHS! I saw it on TX but never recorded it or owned it on video until my UKGold copy. One of only a handful of covers by Bruno Elettori!

I’ve sniffed a flower and have my well-prepared meal ready as I embark on my next #DoctorWho on VHS adventure! I have clear memories of buying this from Boots in Southport in the summer of 1993 and being captivated on viewing. A magnificent Skilleter cover on this one, too!

I find The Doctor’s response to Ringway’s line here intriguing. The idea of The Cybermen making snide remarks 🤣 “Eee, Ringway, you short arsed bastard. Took you long enough to capture the bridge!”
