Congrats to Prof. Gabe Lander Lander Lab and graduate student Sergio Labra on being recognized for outstanding #mentorship! Thanks to Society of Fellows at Scripps Research, Scripps Research Career & Professional Dev Office, and the SPAM team for organizing this annual Scripps Research event! #mentorshipmonth
Grad student Stephan Spangenberg used #chemicalbiology approaches in the Lairson Lab to study regulation of immune checkpoint protein expression. Now a UC San Francisco postdoc w/David Toczyski, he's studying regulation of the cell cycle by #ubiquitin ligases. More: scripps.edu/graduation
Congrats to Madeline Balzarini, part of this year's graduating class of new PhDs! In the Kodadek lab, Balzarini developed novel chemical degraders that work by bringing target proteins directly to the 26S proteasome for destruction. More at: scripps.edu/graduation
Working under Ali Torkamani in Scripps Research Translational Institute, Shaun Chen leveraged #artificialintelligence and #genomic data to enhance the prediction and primary prevention of coronary artery disease. #AI Read more about Shaun and sign up for our graduation livestream at: scripps.edu/graduation
Julia Jones and Justin Wang, both grad students from lab of Prof. Xiang-Lei Yang, will receive their #PhD at this year's Scripps Research #commencement. Read about their accomplishments and where they're headed next at: scripps.edu/graduation
In the Chris Parker lab, 2024 #PhD recipient Anny Chen developed a heterobifunctional molecule system, AceTAG, to selectively modulate protein acetylation in cells and to study the functional consequences of p53 acetylation in #cancer cells. More at: scripps.edu/graduation
Now a faculty member at Mahidol University, Sandra Encalada Lab doctoral student and 2024 graduate Tai Chaiamarit investigated the identity and biogenesis pathway of mutant #prion protein aggregates in axons by live and quantitative microscopy approaches. Learn more at: scripps.edu/graduation
In the The Dawson Group, Zoë Adams explored structural characterization and biological applications of peptide macrocycles and hydrogel competent peptides to develop new therapeutic candidates. She's now working as a chemist at Avidity Biosciences, Inc.. Read more at: scripps.edu/graduation
