We've had a really fun time teaching Japanese pupils Parasitology with Richard Culleton. Two classes so far and both have been so much fun. #ReecelabOnTour

🚨 New paper alert 🚨 Here we (Catherine Oke) test a non-destructive method to detect sporozoites from individual infected mosquitoes on sugar-feeding substrates. doi.org/10.1186/s13071…

I'm really proud of this one. New paper out, "Machine learning reveals singing rhythms of male Pacific field crickets are clock controlled". academic.oup.com/beheco/article…

🚨New paper alert 🚨From her time in our lab, the amazing Mary Westwood demonstrates that the calling behaviour of male Pacific field cricket is a circadian trait and therefore could be a target for natural selection imposed by a parasitoid fly. So cool! doi.org/10.1093/beheco…

Today is world malaria day. Check out our website thereecelab.com to see how we use malaria as a model for studying ecology and evolution. We would also like to highlight the great work by Women In Malaria and SPPIRIT Network for their help in fostering communities.

Another day, another batch of mosquito gut dissections. Look at those beautiful malaria oocysts (P. chabaudi) and i'm not sure but is that melanization too?
