iOS has had app true side loading, install from Safari, since iOS 3. Just locked down.
All that was actually required was turning that on.

Apple is tweaking its anticompetitive 'core technology' junk fee - while still demanding a cut of transactions they have nothing to do with, from apps distributed through channels they have nothing to do with, in violation of EU law. Another rotten, bad-faith move.

Prepare to go back to a galaxy far, far away...

This is fantastic news, and makes iOS app store competition in the EU relevant to iPad owners (who Apple previously intended to freeze out of access). A fantastic move by the European Commission to open markets to competition.
