#Apple  assembled $14 billion of iPhones in India in fiscal year through March 2024. That's double the production of the previous fiscal year and a sure sign that the #iPhone maker is accelerating a push to diversify beyond China.

Seems like there is some confusion about this based on the follow-on reports. These are the folks who were already laid off from the car and display projects. This isn’t another/new layoff. The news here is we for the first time have a number. That’s it.

The actual number is higher. Apple had a car presence in Arizona (divided between employees and contractors) and many display engineers in Asia. Those layoffs aren’t included in the 614 people reported to California.

This marks three notable rounds of layoffs for Apple this year. The other was the company’s Siri annotation team in San Diego, impacting 121 people in January. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
