There was a big audience at our in-service this afternoon to hear about the excellent work of Mairi Macleod and the team at Laxdale Primary School / Bun Sgoil Lacasdail in the development of a nurture provision and a nurturing culture in their school. It is a sad week in Laxdale. We got news that Mrs Chrissie Mary Murray had passed away. Mrs Murray worked in Laxdale cafeteria for nearly thirty years. She was a hugely popular member of our staff who greeted pupils every day with warmth and kindness. She will be missed greatly💖

Christmas Chess ♟️🏆 We had a great Christmas Chess Competition running this term. 37 pupils from P5-7 entered, and today we held the final. Live streamed to the classes, Aaron and Lachlan played out an extremely tight match, with Lachlan (GM5) coming out on top 👏🎉 chess

School Update Schools across the Western Isles are expected to be open as normal on Friday 19th January. There continues to be a risk of localised disruption. Schools will notify parents directly of any specific localised issues that may affect individual locations.

Got to visit Laxdale Primary School / Bun Sgoil Lacasdail this morning to see their session with Chromebook Team Scotland 2023 and their Chromebook Roadshow Scotland. This session is part of our imminent IT infrastructure and device investment programme for primary schools.

Another night in Uist for us: Cancelled ferry means that almost all staff involved in in-service delivery in Stornoway tomorrow are stuck in Uist. Subject to ferry sailing at 7am, the team will be in Stornoway for a 10am start. The event will start one hour later than notified.
