If I ran a national newsroom and saw polls showing that the public was badly misinformed on crime and the economy, I’d see that as a media failure in need of correction, and I’d assign stories about how crime is down and the economy is strong by almost all measures. Just saying.

When elites like the publisher of the NYT call something 'partisan,' they mean something very specific by it. To them, to be partisan, to choose a side & fight for it, is by definition unsophisticated. Brutish. To be on a side is to surrender your rational judgment.

Terrifying part of the Joe Kahn interview: He evidently thinks the NYT under Baquet overreacted to the BLM summer, but he has now righted things. semafor.com/article/05/05/…

I’m not asking the New York Times to support Biden in its news pages. I’m asking it to aggressively expose every aspect of the MAGA threat. No more Page 1 feature stories about what the Trumps are wearing to court. Get fucking serious. 8/10 nytimes.com/2023/11/09/sty…

The New York Times has made it clear in recent public comments that it doesn't think the defense of democracy is part of its job. This failure to meet the moment is a shameful surrender. 🧵 1/10

This article only mentions the strategists behind “the political baggage” once, in one sentence. The Washington Post reveals it has no interest in informing and instead aims to continue to keep the public in the dark about the coordinated work of outrage machine think tanks.

The executive editor of NYT says his job is to take the issue that Fox News has elevated with sensational reporting, and make that centerpiece of the his paper's reporting as well. Not what is most important, but what Fox News has elevated to the top of the polls.
