A3 I think anonymity helps.I used to like asking students to write questions on a piece of paper, scrunch it up (or make a paper airplane) and throw them at me so I could pick up and answer some in class and review the rest later What’s the hi-tech anonymous way today?

LTHE Tweetchat A6 The ‘what’ (subject) is where new staff focus, at least many PgCert participants I have taught over the years, however it’s the ‘how’ (pedagogy) and the ‘who’ (our students) you are teaching is crucial. This is why observation and reflection are important.

Q6. Research-informed and/or research led teaching is important – so why can it be difficult for some colleagues in HE to remember teaching is not all about them and their research but all about their learners and supporting them to think, learn and understand content?

Q3. How do you encourage learners to ask questions and feel safe to tell you something doesn’t make sense or that they don’t understand?

Q2. How do you ensure that you are not making assumptions about what you think your learners already know? How do you meet learners where they are?

LTHE Tweetchat A1 Review your cohort and ask them for their level of knowledge, for (regular) feedback on what is working. Design for inclusion
Share what you are happy to share about you - connect
Ensure content is current and diverse in format and range of contexts

LTHE Tweetchat A1. It’s the small things that make a difference. Listen. Actively listen. Ask if they are ok - and mean it. Make time for check ins. Go to them, don’t wait for them to come to you.

Q1. How do you demonstrate that you care (and we mean really care) about both your content and your learners’ needs?
