I read this tonight. Very atmospheric, great art from Sean Phillips (and Jacob Phillips's colours play a very significant role in this one too) and some interesting subtext from Brubaker that makes the book feel as relevant today as to the Satanic Panic era. A compelling read.

I picked up the new Battle Action #1 and really enjoyed it. Two medium-length stories by top creative teams (Ennis/Burns and BKV/Burnham) which were both a great read. I'll be picking up the rest of this run and will also go back and grab the collections of the first two volumes.

The new Marvel Legends 85th Anniversary version of Venom is an awesome figure, one of the best takes on this character I've seen. The alternate heads are great and for a chunky figure he's pretty poseable. Watch out Spidey!

Hello Darkness #2 was a really good read. Still loving the Garth Ennis/Becky CloOOoOoOonan 👻 story which is really disquieting in a subtle way, but the new done-in-one stories here from Azam Raharjo, FRΞDΞRIK and Wes Craig worked great too. A great little horror anthology.

1949 by Dustin Weaver was an excellent read. The story is told in an intriguing, dynamic way - with lots of clever connections made as pennies drop - and the art is dazzling and beautiful while also telling the story really clearly. I'm now wishing I picked up Paklis in singles!

This was a pleasant surprise. I've always loved the visuals of Plastic Man without ever really getting to know him as a character, and this book plays with that idea as part of a story that turns out to be unexpectedly moving in places. Plus I love the combination of art styles.

The Ultimate Vision backups from 2005 are secretly the first Millar-JR jr collab - but like Tarantino leaving out his guest-/co-director gigs from his official 10, I'm guessing they don't quite count as a fully-fledged project compared to the great Wolverine and Kick-Ass runs.

Still really enjoying these Oni Press EC anthologies. This latest issue has some fun tales, including a cracking short story by Chris Condon, Javier Fernandez and Alessandro Santoro that delivers some nice twists and turns, and a great little two-pager by Ben H Winters and leomacs.

Are Jason Fabok & Brad Anderson the best art team currently working in monthly comics? On the strength of Image Comics & Ghost Machine's Rook Exodus, I think they might be. The book looks amazing - I'm constantly wowed by the art, which adds so much to an already great story.

This was maybe the best issue yet of the great series that is Get Fury. A couple of showstoppingly shocking moments, a great early page turn, and a cracking cliffhanger. Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows are a terrific team and I'll be sad to see this one end next month.

White Boat #2 was a great middle issue of a book that keeps you guessing with its twists and turns: if #1 was more about atmospheric horror, #2 has more of a sci-fi/fantasy adventure tone. I was reminded of Jurassic Park at times. And with Francavilla on art it all looks superb.

This was even better than #1. A Michaelangelo-focused issue that makes him fun and likeable while still providing plenty of pathos and lots of solid action. I don't know if there's a permanent artist lined up after these first four issues, but Albuquerque would be a good shout.

If the first Spider-Man Reign paid tribute to Frank Miller and DKR, then the sequel builds on that but definitely leans more towards Todd McFarlane-era ASM, particularly the Venom stories. In particular #3 has a fantastic pastiche of that era, perfectly done by Kaare Andrews.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Adam Kreutinger - my son recently got into puppets, and your videos have been fantastic at not only showing how to build them, but also inspiring him to come up with his own ideas and giving him the tools to translate them into reality. Thanks!
