A prayer for Good Friday

📷 Blue Christ is a painting by Lorna May Wadsworth and depicts black Christ wearing a crown of thorns. Blue Christ was exhibited during our 2021 exhibition Global Images of Christ: Challenging Perceptions. It was donated to the Cathedral by the artist.

Good Friday is a day for stillness and reflection in the church which is reflected in the devotions on the day.

On Holy Saturday our normal order of services is paused to get ready for the start of Easter at the Easter Vigil.

All are welcome to join us for worship. Palm Sunday 10.30am Eucharist will begin with a procession in Abbey Square (with a donkey) followed by the Cathedral Choir singing the Passion Gospel.

The day concludes with a special service of music and readings sung by the Nave Choir.
