Harnessing the power of life sciences - across all sectors - has a substantial impact on patient outcomes. A useful cross-government discussion to bolster the UK as a world leader in clinical trials and innovation, including NIHR Research supporting UK's life sciences industry.

‘POPPY study is a once in a lifetime opportunity to answer the question whether the known preeclampsia-associated long-term cardiovascular risk is a legacy of preeclampsia itself or whether preeclampsia just merely unmasks the Prepregnancy cardiovascular predisposition.’

All pregnant women at risk of pre-eclampsia MUST have access to life-saving PlGF testing. 95% of NHS trusts in England already offer the test - Scotland must do the same. I met First Minister, Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC), Monica Lennon MSP & campaigners to discuss the urgent roll-out of the test.

We are so very sorry to learn of the death of our co-founder Prof Chris Redman. Chris will be sorely missed as a brilliant clinician, a master of pre-eclampsia and a man of huge integrity. Our full tribute is on our website action-on-pre-eclampsia.org.uk/prof-emeritus-…

🚨 After pressure from politicians, campaigners and Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC), I'm delighted that Scottish Government has agreed to fund life-saving PlGF testing for pre-eclampsia. 🏥This test is long overdue in Scotland and health boards must now deliver it at pace to protect mums and their babies.

I thank First Minister John Swinney for listening to Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC), Clark’s parents - Ami and Stuart - and Lynsey and Bradley, parents of Carys. Parents, politicians and experts united as one with the sole aim of making life-saving pre-eclampsia testing available throughout Scotland.
