Many staff still left there are immigrants who can’t just quit, because Twitter sponsors their visa. A factory owner who controls his workers’ papers and demands they work all day AND sleep at the plant is usually called a sweatshop boss and human trafficker.

Despite public outcry, the Florida High School Athletics Association is standing by its decision that girls submit menstruation info to schools: including age of their first period, how many days are typically in between their periods, and the date of their most recent period.

I have not seen the video. Those who love me most have urged me not to. One of the truths playing Kunta Kinte taught me is that the dehumanization of Black people was necessary to the success of our enslavement.

I find the most difficult part of far right research & writing is not finding out their nefarious plans, but rather convincing people that the nefarious plans they state clearly and often are both real and in progress right now

Kinda embarrassing to admit, but not one person came to my Atlanta tour event. Instead of being bummed about it I’ve decided to focus on being grateful that I get to do this work. Let’s thank the bookstore & order all 50 copies they have of my books! littleshopofstories.com/search/site/Ca…

As we celebrate #Juneteenth, let us keep in mind that African Americans during the Civil War distinguished between *abolishing slavery* and *freeing people.* Many formerly enslaved people did not feel *free* in 1865 and thereafter, and they clearly articulated why. A thread 1/

At least 3 rich businessmen have gotten access to Supreme Court justices by paying for their lux vacations. Justice Scalia got an Alaska vacation paid for by the same businessman who hosted Justice Alito. Here he is making martinis out of glacier ice: propublica.org/article/samuel…

I hate having to go over 'identifies as a cat' again because it's genuinely one of the most upsetting debunks out there - yes, there are schools in the US which have cat litter in their classrooms and it's because they have to barricade themselves in rooms when shooters come.

What would happen if migrants on boats with limited resources were also seen as brave explorers gifted with curiosity and wonder for depths unknown, I wonder.

This statement is so unacceptable in so many ways it’s mind boggling. A thread. First of all, to release this news during Pride Month and say what is tantamount to “we know you’ll be unsafe but deal” is horrifically offensive. And to say it in such a circuitous way is cowardly.
