Our love letter to DC 💌 We love this city, & this is how we show our love. In times like these, everyone in DC has to stay united & look out for each other. We’ll keep making gear that reinforces our need for Statehood, Autonomy & Home Rule 👊🏽 Stay strong DC!

Thank you to ABC News for having me on yesterday to discuss what the federal government SHOULD be doing to help us fight crime in DC, and how this authoritarian power grab by the President clearly demonstrates the need for DC statehood

To those who say a call for DC statehood is politically naive during this time, I commend the words of Frederick Douglass, a great Washingtonian in his later years: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will.”

No emergency. No excuse. Crime in D.C. is down 26% & at a 30-year low. Federalizing MPD without cause isn’t just unlawful — it’s undemocratic. 🗳 #HandsOffDC #FreeDC #DCStatehood

We have a lot to be proud of in Washington, but what I am most proud of are our people and values. And what I have seen over this past week is a city that knows how to stick together. Read my full letter to DC residents:

Let’s be clear: the National Guard troops, federal law enforcement, and D.C. police cannot violate the Constitution or the D.C. Home Rule Act. Understanding your rights can help you make the best decision for yourself if approached by law enforcement.

We’re sharing an important The Washington Post link—“As Trump takes over D.C.’s police, here’s what law enforcement can and cannot do”—explaining your rights if stopped by any law enforcement in D.C. Please read and stay informed. #FREEDC #DCSTATEHOOD washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/…

DC pays the most in federal income taxes per capita in the nation, yet DC was excluded from a health program in the BBB, likely depriving the District of $100s of millions.   I introduced a bill to make DC eligible, the same way states are.
