"Kids aren’t dying because their parents were circling the block looking for parking, or they had to leave the house slightly earlier for art class. Those are inconveniences, not dangers. They die when drivers’ convenience is prioritized over their lives." ggwash.org/view/96246/car…

🧵 When DCist was shut down, we watched as so many of you mourned the loss of a vital local news source. A team of us got to thinking: What if we could create an outlet controlled by us (the journalists) and you (our community)? No executives involved.

This SMD includes 5 DCPS campuses (Dorothy Height, Truesdell @ Sharpe, Powell, MacFarland, and Roosevelt), 2 DPR campuses (Petworth + Upshur currently in modernization planning), & the bulk of the Petworth Main Street. We *desperately* need coverage. Petworth News CM Janeese Lewis George

“If someone hit her with his fists, he would get arrested…But he hit her with a car, so he just gets a ticket and can walk away.” #zerovisiondc

This is horrible, I'm glad the cyclist is okay. We have long been after DDOT DC to make it impossible for cars to enter the MBT, but they won't consider it unless we can prove how cars enter, and even then nothing has happened. Physical barriers are the only effective deterrent.

Here are all of the TSIs currently remaining in the TSI system within Ward 4 for future consideration or until it falls within the top 200 TSIs prioritized for a future quarter.  We need a better system than this to make our streets safer. Janeese Lewis George CM Janeese Lewis George

Here are a few clips from my morning commute on 11th St NW this morning, which DDOT DC is trying to build a protected bike lane on; Charlotte Slaiman was hit by a careless driver on this stretch of road last year and broke her wrist.

I spoke with Ali Rogin about my Allie, why the way US vehicles are designed is deadly, and my rage that we are collectively accepting the status quo of 40k people dying on our streets every year. Please watch & submit your comment in favor of the proposed rule-making 👇

DDOT just announced the Grant Circle safety improvements are in final design and happening! "Construction is anticipated to begin in August 2025 and is expected to take approximately 6-8 months, weather permitting." Updates will be posted at grantcircleredesign.ddot.dc.gov

The National Park Service already had staff to clean up DC parks. The Administration came in and fired them in March with DOGE, and now they are forcing National Guard troops to pick up trash and rake mulch at a taxpayer expense of $1 million per day.

CALLING ALL CONCERT FANS AND ARTISTS! The D.C. Council has proposed one of the strongest consumer protection bills in the country — the RESALE Act — which would make it illegal for scalpers to price-gouge (tickets can’t be resold for more than 10% above face value), (1/2)
