The world probably does not need another AlphaFold related review from us but with Miguel Correa @[email protected] Jürgen Jänes and Delora Baptista we try to discuss here what is the impact of these methods specifically for research on human genetics and health annualreviews.org/content/journa…
Happy to share Soham Dibyachintan’s first PhD paper (work done with Alex Dubé) in which he looked at the consequences of cryptic divergence in redundant duplicated genes by exploring future evolution. It turns out that epistasis dictates what they can become. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Very impressive example of rapid gene duplications and functional diversification of kinases uncovered by Moritz Treeck, Hugo et al. David Bradley and I were very happy to contribute.
Preprint by Philippe Després: how many mutations are needed to turn an obligate homodimer into an obligate heterodimer by gene duplication? One/gene is enough.
See our story on how deleterious mutations can construct more complex molecular machines.

Our (Jürgen Jänes) review on recent progress in deep learning models for protein structure prediction and design is out in Mol Syst Biol. This is meant as a primer for those outside wanting to get an update on what is going on with some thoughts on the future embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
