#Otd 1560 The very mysterious and potentially opportunistic death of Amy (Robsart) Dudley. She falls down the stairs and breaks her neck when no one is around... Meaning her husband Robert is now available for Queen Elizabeth.

#Otd 490 BC The assumed date of the Battle of Marathon. Yes, the Greeks won and the Persians lost, but all we really remember is that some guy called Pheidippides ran all the way to Sparta and then Athens and then died. For some reason, people still want to run marathons.
