This is what a first-year seminarian at a fundamentalist seminary says at lunch on day one (what Johnson says). It's the take of someone who knows next to nothing about critical thinking and hermeneutics. As a pastor, I wouldn't let this person lead a Bible study at my church.

Really important reporting here from Michelle. We’ve been following what’s been going on in Oklahoma with imposing Christian nationalist ideology BJC. Thanks for your good work to tell the truth about this story.

There are national & international gatherings every year for Bonhoeffer scholars. Metaxas would be laughed out of these events. Why? Because his book on Bonhoeffer is widely regarded among Bonhoeffer scholars as subpar, at best. And revisionist history, at worst.

I love Tom Wright. I spent two terms in Oxford last year Wycliffe Hall, where he is a senior research fellow. And even though his argument here is SO important, and I commend it to you, can you look past him to the state of his office? Brilliant mind. Messy office. I feel SEEN.

I've been to Haiti several times. It's a troubled yet beautiful place and people. It's not surprising that far-right politicians use racist tropes to speak badly about immigrants. What's surprising is that US Christians fall in lockstep with this rhetorical garbage. Do better.

What I have heard over and over is that these younger, former evangelicals cannot believe more evangelical leaders have refused to speak up and speak out and speak against the rise of Christian nationalism and white supremacy as the silent, but real, feature on the GOP platform.

I am once again begging you not to believe any candidate who says the government is not helping in Western, NC. I am here. FEMA, state, & federal resources are EVERYWHERE. The progress on our roads & power grid is phenomenal. My family has already gotten our check from FEMA. 1/2

"Who Goes Nazi?" - by Dorothy Thompson, one of the first American journalists to be expelled from Nazi Germany in 1934. This article from 1941 Harper's Magazine is fascinating. Since 2015, I've often wondered how & who goes MAGA. harpers.org/archive/1941/0…

Pastors who resisted fascism in 1930s Germany are the ones we study and learn from today. We don't read or learn from the pastors who went along with the Nazi takeover of the German church. We read the ones who resisted. We learn from the courageous ones.

When the threat of authoritarianism is looming and many "Christians" are cheering it on, the Church has a unique opportunity – we can choose to be distinctly Christian. We can announce the Kingdom of God, serve our neighbors, and love our enemies. God is made known through us.
