.Ontario Government has announced a $186,860 investment over 2 years to the Peterborough County OPP to support the mobile crisis response team expansion. This helps police work with trained crisis workers to provide specialized support with those experiencing a mental health-related crisis.

The @ongov is investing $981,888 to the Peterborough Police for enhanced policing to combat theft through F.I.R.S.T. and human trafficking/sexual violence. The Police’s CCTV network will also see additional cameras installed throughout the City with the funding.

A large metal fire broke out near the Superstore (likely Peterborough Iron & Metal) resulting in smoke and poor air quality before 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2025. Peterborough Fire Services has extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
