Gov Emergency Task Force today discussed response to the recent Storm Éowyn and the potential impact of long-term gas outages. A review (aim to be done by summer) will split into two sub-groups - one on critical infrastructure & second on community and humanitarian assistance.

Good to see: Government task force on emergency planning: "review will be split into two sub-groups - the first will focus on critical infrastructure with the other focusing on Community and Humanitarian Assistance." irishtimes.com/politics/2025/…

The topic of peak-oil production is back in vogue after a prolonged hiatus — if remarks at CERAWeek are any guide, writes David Wethe trib.al/8T2S3BT

Monbiot is spot-on. The system most likely to drive a food systems collapse is the financial system (through trade intermediation). Compounding this is that it would also undermine critical infrastructure (power, fuel, water, sanitation, health...). theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Interesting job for those interested catastrophic global risk. What's the chance things fall apart before your contract ends?

Russia doesn’t allow foreign journalists to enter the occupied territories of Ukraine. Three Ukrainians in different Moscow-controlled cities spoke to me secretly “to let the world know what we face”. We changed their names for safety. ⁦BBC News (UK)⁩ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

There's a spectacular gap between the public + political parties assessment of priorities, and escalating global systemic risk. Real priority 1: a national resilience & preparedness strategy. P2: get moving asap. There is no country in EU as complacent as Ireland.
