We, as a country (not alone by any means) should be ashamed and embarrassed that we can't implement basic infection control measures. We remain in a pandemic that's claimed ~250K lives acutely, many more in longer term, millions disabled. Winter pressures are avoidable 💔

An increasing number of hospitals are now advocating masking. Too little too late but perhaps finally IPC teams are making decisions independent of the NIPCM.

My GP practice has contacted all its patients - masks now to be worn by patients attending with ANY resp. symptoms. Great to hear, encourages patient responsibility & helps protect staff and patients. Any thoughts? IPC colleagues - is this the consistency advocated by NIPCM?

We are not documenting crowding in individual patient notes. Makes it difficult to give context around delayed care for coroner, solicitor etc Do you document crowding in clinical notes? If so what phrases do you use?

This is rather eye opening. I can confirm, the teams I work with wouldn’t be able to function without migrants who contribute their skills, time and labour - many of them doing so despite being regularly told they’re not welcome here. They are.
