Afghan girls belong in the classroom. Their education is the key to unlocking a brighter future for the entire nation. The ban on girls’ education in #Afghanistan must end. UN Women stands by the Afghan girls' right to learn & lead.

Back from Bamyan, #Afghanistan, I'm inspired by the resilience & creativity of our partners. Whether in the business of bakery, handicrafts or literacy & computer skills training, Afghan women work hard in spite of formidable challenges. @UNWomenAfghan stands proudly by them.

Back from my recent mission, UN Women Afghanistan and its partners are delivering for the women of Kandahar, from assisting forced returnees to piloting women-focused entrepreneurship and pursuing new entry points to reach women in need.

Yesterday in Brussels with Alison Davidian, I was again inspired by our photo exhibition with UN Women highlighting the strength and resilience of Afghan women and girls. We cannot abandon them; they must be able to fully and meaningfully participate in all aspects of Afghan life.

We have said it, and will keep on saying it: Afghan girls belong in the classroom. Their education is key for a brighter future for #Afghanistan. UN Women stands by the right of Afghan girls to learn and lead lives of their own choosing.

I just returned from Northern #Afghanistan, where Afghan women told me what they want the world to know about their lives. My remarks on their powerful message and on how we can continue to invest in their unbreakable resilience. unwo.men/OZUm50SXbKi

The Taliban’s latest morality law isn't just a step backwards— it’s an assault on Afghan women and girls, stripping away their most basic freedoms and dignity. Reversal is not an option; it is an imperative.
