#OTD Christmas Day 1970, you 'd have settled down after a busy day to be entertained by the Val Doonican Christmas Show with top-drawer guests Sandie Shaw, Ronnie Corbett, Flanders & Swann and Stephan Grapelli. (Enough seasonal shows from me here, I think - Merry Christmas!)

#OTD 17 April 1967, your evening viewing on BBC2 would no doubt once again have included the Dick Emery Show, this week with special guests Gerald Harper and the very first Bond girl, Eunice Gayson (aka Sylvia Trench).

Got distracted but finally read it this week. It’s a really entertaining account of the early years of Sam Kydd’s far from meteoric rise to fame in the immediate postwar years and highly recommended!

So sad to hear about Olivia Newton John; one of her earliest UK appearances was on the Dick Emery Show when she was but a teenager

Sad to discover that Jo Tewson has died; doubtless there will be many well deserved tributes, but I don’t think many will mention her contribution to Coppers End!
