Every time Quivers release a new song, it's like falling in love all over again. This time, it's the title track from their forthcoming Merge Records album "Oyster Cuts" and of course it's flat-out gorgeous and is giving me serious John Hughes movie soundtrack vibes. Magical!

The new episodes of "The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan" (Uganda, Rwanda, Madagascar) might be my favourite TV of recent years. Funny, insightful, educational, beautifully filmed, and often very moving, too. I know there's a lot going on, but treat yourself if you can.

I only saw Oasis once, the gig at the Riverside in Newcastle that ended in a brawl after five songs. It would be pretty funny if they did that again for these massive reunion shows next year - just have a punch-up with the crowd and walk off after 25 mins.

Our 14 year old is about to embark on his GCSEs journey and I'll be encouraging him endlessly to read Alom's book: it really is superb!

I was lucky enough to receive a proof copy of Jonathan Coe's forthcoming novel. Madly entertaining, with some of my favourite ever Coe jokes, and an amazing mix of politics, cosy crime, dark academia, autofiction, Friends, Below Deck (!), B.S. Johnson and much more. Dazzling!
