Born 12 August 1918. Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson, VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar. First Commanding Officer of the RAF's 617 Squadron, which he led in the 1943 "Dam Busters" raid (Operation Chastise). The most highly decorated British serviceman at that time.
