Tropical Storm #Fernand has formed in the southwestern Atlantic. Fernand will likely stay out to sea and poses no threat to the United States. It is forecast to strengthen to near-hurricane intensity, with winds approaching 70 mph, as it tracks north and passes east of Bermuda

More on and off rain this Mon, with a marginal chance for excessive rainfall. Many inches of rain have fallen over the past few days, so it wouldn't take much to get some minor flooding. By Wed, the pattern shifts a bit, and drier air aloft will lower the rain chances a little.

Hang in there all, one more day of this super wet pattern, and then it dries out a little. Mid level dry air will lower rain chances for a few days starting Wed, but the tropical moisture comes right back in for our weekend. Aug living up to it's rainiest month of the year title.

Lots of shear over Caribbean as we head towards the climatological peak of hurricane season. That’s a good thing. Potentially, another back loaded season, with most of the activity occurring after mid September. We will take it one day at a time.

The sunshine is back for a few days, and of course that means back to the 90's as well. Deep tropical moisture is going to pour back in for the 2nd half of the holiday weekend, ramping back up the rain chances. Meanwhile, the tropics look to stay quiet through Labor Day weekend.

Rain chances slowly increase this holiday weekend, with right now Sunday being the day with the highest rain chance. The last advisory on Fernand has been issued, so the tropics look to be quiet for the next several days.

Rain chances this weekend are going up. Fri, 30%, Sat, 40-50%, Sun, 70%, and 60% for Labor Day. There is a marginal risk for excessive rainfall both Sun and Mon, but neither day looks to be a complete washout. The tropics are quiet with no named storms expected for the next week.
